Just returned home from a productive and fun trip to western Nebraska to meet some new people and see some old friends – some of the old friends were actually old friends and some were in the form of places I had not seen for quite a while.
For starters, I did some good hiking and exploring in Fort Robinson State Park. Here are some pictures that are less conventional than what you might be able to get from the main areas of the park:

Great Plains Trail Alliance was formed from an inspiration that began in 1991 when founder Steve Myers took a trip from Minnesota to Wyoming. On the way, he was struck by the beauty of the open spaces west of the Missouri River. He wanted a way to experience this landscape more fully. Not long after, the seed of an idea for the Great Plains Trail was planted.
